WINS : WARNING-INFORMATION-NOTIFICATION SYSTEM

Russ DeCrease, a representative from St. Clair County’s Emergency Management office attended the Board of Trustees meeting on January 14, 2015.  The board approved to opt into using the system through October 2016. That date is when the current grant funding for the program expires and the county will likely have to charge for using the system.  “We are looking for sponsorships to continue the program after October 2016 but even if we don’t get them, we will only charge the township for the service, not the residents,” said DeCrease.  He also noted that the system costs the county  $48,000 per year to operate.
